Given the importance of the day, Association Melody for Dialogue among Civilizations along with its partners have organized a magnificent concert all about Water and its importance for life.
Unfortunately all news are not good news and as we speak one out of seven persons in the world are suffering from shortage of drinking water and nearly 4000 Children are dying everyday out of water born diseases. As we progress and urbanize the situation become more alarming. It is predicted that by the year 2030, half of the population of the world will be deprived from this source of life if our present consumption levels continue to escalate and unless urgent actions are taken to reverse the trend, the lives and livelihood of millions of people will be at risk.
The program tonight aims at creating advocacy for water sustainability and awareness. we hope for the day that we are all part of the solution and through our individual actions save our blue planet.
Since a few years, reaching out to and mobilizing committed people has become the central objective of my Association. By organizing a series of multifaceted concerts and forums around the world, we try to make a difference. The program tonight is another attempt in that direction
We will start with a composition which was debuted in Hangzhou during our second regional water event. To prepare this piece, the soloists were plunged into the West Lake and used the lake as a big drum. As you will notice the sound of water lends itself to an exciting musical performance.
This will be followed by “hero” with Guqin and Violin. This composition drived from zhang yi mou film (2002) hero.
The third piece named Drumming Tiger . This piece is an excerpt from Oscar-winning score fro Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon”.
After ten minutes intermission, we will proceed to listen to Water Concert or the most famous creation of Tan Dun which has been played almost in all major theatres in the world. This multimedia piece deserves only one word” Extra-ordinary”
Permettez-moi de saisir cette occasion pour remercier nos partenaires, Orchestra Sympnonic de Pays-Bas, personnel de l’UNESCO et des experts technicians qui ont rendu ce programme possible.
