In an effort to crystallize and better carry out the agreements and decisions reached in the SDG Summit in New York in September, COP21 in Paris in December and China’s Thirteenth Five-Year Plan, the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference 2016 with a focus on “green development” and “actions” took place in Guiyang from July 7-10.
Nobel Prize laureates, heads of international organizations as well as presidents of prestigious worldwide universities wereamong the academic-filled attendance list and of the 1,000 experts over 400 were from overseas.The forum this year showcased China’s specific practices on ecological civilization construction, and set up a platform for dialogues and strategic cooperation between China and the rest of the world. China’s role as an advocator and practitioner in tackling climate change was also highlighted.
Along with diverse topics focusing on sustainable development, an “E20 (Eco-20) Summit” as an outreach group of G20 was held during the conference and the outcome of the E20 Summit will be presented to G20 2016 in September. 2016 will be a year of action for EFG Annual Conference as it will be a scenario to explore how to practice the ideas and plans initiated in the previous year.
